Kevin J. Kircher

Thanks for stopping by! I’m Kevin (@kevinkircher), a postdoc at MIT, where I work with Steven Leeb in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and Leslie Norford in Building Technology. I received a Mechanical Engineering PhD in 2019 from Cornell, advised by Max Zhang. Before my PhD, I researched building technologies at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.

I work on control, optimization and machine learning methods for energy systems in buildings, focusing on their interactions with the power grid. I’m particularly interested in new technologies for efficient electric heating. I like to validate methods through field experiments, often in collaboration with campus building operators.
